Sesame products
Sesame is known as a tasty and at the same time very healthy seed that is used in baking sesame rolls, sesame rings, all dough products with sesame, sweet bars or fine confectionery, as well as in humus and other vegan products. The sesame paste tahini is very popular for refining dishes.
The sesame seeds ripen in the pod-shaped fruits of the sesame plant, which is considered the oldest oil plant in the world. The herbaceous annual plant was originally only native to India and Africa and is now widely used as an agricultural crop in tropical and subtropical regions.
Sesame seeds are highly valued in a healthy diet because of their high content of iron for blood formation and calcium for strengthening bones. The trace elements and vitamins in the seeds take on basic functions in the body to strengthen the immune system and to regenerate the skin, to build up muscles and to maintain good nerve function.
Sesame is commercially available roasted and unroasted. The roasting increases the slightly nutty taste of the sesame seeds. Toasted sesame seeds are an integral part of some traditional oriental spice mixes. The roasted sesame seeds can also be used to refine salads, vegetable dishes, soups and mueslis. In Asian cuisine, pan dishes are often sprinkled with roasted sesame, which gives them a particularly fine taste.
Our sesame seeds are purchased with a purity of at least 99%. When they are imported, they are subjected to a disinfestation in order to guarantee sterility and to exclude an infestation with vermin. Before further processing, the seeds must be of perfect quality and free from harmful substances and insect infestation. That is why our sesame seeds go through strict food-related controls.
The use of advanced technology enables us to maintain a high quality and good safety standards with the sesame seeds. On the one hand, our modern production lines have metal detectors and X-ray scanners that are used to detect food contamination. On the other hand, we have the sesame analyzed in the laboratory. In particular, there is a check for harmful ethylene oxide residues, as well as a gravimetric and chemical check.
With gravimetric and chemical tests in the laboratory, we ensure that the sesame is not contaminated with microorganisms or chemicals above the limit values that apply to health safety.
